Which helmet should I choose for rollerblading, riding scooter, skateboard or cycling?
A stunt or all-round helmet is a type of helmet that covers more of the head and back of it. It is shaped like a pot and is most popular shape for freestyle sports. Parents often choose this shape for their children to ensure the best protection. It is usually slightly deeper and therefore covers more of the forehead and the back of the head. This type of helmet is also used in various extreme sports such as aggressive skating, stunt scooters, skateboarding, BMX, etc., where the best protection is needed in case of a possible crash. Of course, when choosing this type of helmet for your child, you can't quite compare the amplitude of a possible fall with extreme sports, so we don't recommend getting too stuck on just one type of helmet shape. In order to choose the one that suits you best, please also check out other types of helmets and consider the advantages or disadvantages of both. The advantage of a stunt helmet is definitely the ability to absorb reoccurring impacts, although any helmet manufacturer strongly recommends changing the helmet after every serious impact.
A cycling style helmet is a form of helmet usually associated with the sport of cycling, but it is suitable for all sports and activities and is not limited just to cycling. The main advantages of such a helmet are good ventilation and light weight! In summer, when there is a greater risk of overheating in the sun, good ventilation is very important. The lighter weight of the helmet puts less strain on the neck muscles and light weight helmets generally stay in place better - they don't wobble as much. Often believed that such a helmet offers less protection, but this is not entirely true. Choosing the right size for this shape of helmet and matching it to the specific shape of your head is crucial.
The helmet adjustable head ring is a big advantage. It allows the helmet to be better secured on the head so that it stays in place in the event of a potential fall. This ability to adjust the size allows a closer fitting, especially if the helmet is purchased online. We recommend that helmets for children are only purchased with this option.
In-mold and injected shell technology. Very important differences in the construction of helmets which affect the weight and impact resistance of the helmet. Most stunt shape helmets are manufactured with a separate ~2.5mm outer layer or shell. It is the shell of the helmet that protects the impact absorbing EPS (Expanded polystyrene) foam. The thicker outer layer, of course, protects the overall helmet construction better and is more resistant to various small impacts and similar incidents. However, this helmet construction is considerably heavier. In contrast, the outer layer of in-mold helmet technology is only ~0.5mm thin and is bonded to the EPS absorbing foam of the helmet. The result is a significantly lighter helmet! Mostly all bike helmets use in-mold technology, while stunt style helmets use an injected shell outer. Stunt style helmets with an in-mold technology are the best solution for parents looking for a lightweight helmet with maximum protection for their child.
